Student Online Portal

Since the school operates as a hybrid long distance educational provider, the faculty, students and diagnostic equipment are not located within the school facility. Students receive didactic instruction on-line through IOHS E-Learn™ , a web based course management system, which allows for 24/7 access to classes and materials. In addition, students receive resident clinical training at a local accredited medical center near them.

IOHS E-Learn, the online course management system, is SCROM compliant. SCROM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based e-learning. In simple terms, they constrain a learner to a fixed set of paths through the training material, permit the learner to "bookmark" their progress when taking breaks, and assure the acceptability of test scores achieved by the learner.

Study materials are presented in a range of formats from PDFs through to video and interactive media. Students will participate in group activities such as discussion forums, message boards, blogs and wiki's (editable web pages). Students can monitor their own progress with online self-review quizzes and receive immediate results and feedback. Lecturers mark assessments online and grade assignments electronically. All participants can share resources through access to RSS feeds, online library collections and e-portfolio.
